I Notice that there are still a lot of hits on this web site, but few comments. DON"T LET OLD FARTS LIKE ME HAVE ALL THE SAY! The rule changes to hitoric racing warrant comment if we are ever going to improve our sport. The 'Manufacturers Catalogued Capacity rule change is going to make a big difference. I'm sure some riders support the change, some oppose it. HAVE YOUR SAY, please join in the discussion. If you have difficulty registering, email the webmaster.

You are right Alfonso, there is a big problem and people seem to be real lazy and not bother making comments. This site is set-up for them to voice their opinions and what do they do, sit on the side line.
Pretty p*ss poor if you ask me. We create this site to give you the rider a chance to say what is p*ssing you off, and what do you do about it? Nothing, that's what they do, nothing.
On average it costs me out of my pocket $150.00 a month to run this site, and I get nothing for it apart from the enjoyment of knowing that it will help with the sport of Classic Motorcycling and Post Classic Motorcycling, but what does most of the users do? Nothing. It is here for everyones comments/enjoyment and to help with the sport, not just be here to have no comments added.
We offer this site to all users to make their comments and suggestions, not only about the site, but the most important part the sport. It only takes a little while to register and then they can make their opinions heard. Get off your buts and do something about it and get this site busy.
Regards,
David Webmaster @ Classic Motorcycling |

I agree with you Alan - it is a shame more people aren't contributing, but I think there are a few reasons for this. David has obviously put a huge amount of effort into the site and is to be congratulated on one of the best sites I've seen. I think some people may find it a bit complex in terms of having to organise their thoughts according to the categories provided. I have to admit it was easier to contribute when you could simply post a comment into the mass of comments and simply view the latest posts and respond if so desired. Unfortunately I believe most of us aren't organised enough to want to think through where we should put our comment, what to call a new topic, and navigate through all the topics to see what's been happening.
The other issue is - are the right people reading what we post? I believe that if this web site is going to be truly representative of classic racing in Australia, we need representation of the key clubs and the commission. Most of the comments are personal opinions. For example I have no idea whether your opinions are those of the majority of Victorians, or maybe you're the only one who wants to change cut-off dates etc.
If we are going to start discussing rules etc we need to have some assurance that the majority are being represented. It's easy to say "this is what should be done" - too many of us play that game. However, I believe every historic racing club in Australia needs to be approached to ensure they are represented, and the commission, love it or hate it, also needs to be involved. Talking among a dozen or so individuals is unlikely to achieve anything other than a bit of cameraderie and a few sparring bouts, but as Zoltan has pointed out - to what end? As it is now, I think the site is fantastic in its implementation, however, it now has to be sold and given some credence in the historic movement. I really think this has to be done through the clubs and direct contact with the commission. It's worth talking to Alan Warner, who used to be a regular contributor before joining the commission. Why doesn't he contribute any more? Ron Newitt has been a good contributor, but is no longer on the commission thanks to MA politics.
I hope this is useful, but I know it's much easier said than done. I honestly believe that your website is the best opportunity yet for moving the sport forward, but it has to have fundamental support of the movement as a whole. |

| It doesn't really matter which subject you put your posting under. David is quite capable of moving it if necessary. This forum will continue to be a bit biased while we don't have many contributors. There is one important aspect, however. This forum provides an easy means of communication between riders, we have never had this before. We know several historic commissioners visit this site. Personally I think the sport can be greatly improved, but WE NEED YOUR OPINIONS TO DO IT. PLEASE HAVE YOUR SAY! WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU. |
