Looks like HMRAV have lost their 'get up and go', as far as historic racing is concerned. I would have thought they would have more enthusiasm towards helping this web site give an improved service to riders.

Hello,

I have been given the results for Hitoric Winton and they are now online. Not much to look at, but it gives you the placings.

Maybe HMRAV should look into a better system of recording the race results. Even the guys and girls from the Mac Park meet had better results than the results supplied by HMRAV.

Race report
The 2001 Avon 1 hour Endurance race for Post Classic P4/P5 bikes, July 15 2001, Oran Park
The Avon 1 hour Endurance race for Post Classic bikes was held on sunday July 15 at Oran Park, in conjunction with the BEARS National Championships and the TJ Race Paint Bucket 1 Hour. The grid consisted mainly of Post Classic and Forgotten Era bikes, and was a great showcase for today's Post Classic Racing, containing many makes and models with which most of us grew up with. The racing was extremely close in parts, with the Le Mans start a spectacle not seen often today. In the initial stages Rob Woods led on his 140hp Forgotten Era GSX1100, being closely shadowed then overtaken by Roger Quinlan's ex Graeme Crosby 1170cc Z engined Moriwaki as 2nd qualifier, Josip Marukic (Campbeltown M/Cs GSX1100) DNF'd due to engine problems. The Moriwaki is well suited to endurance racing, having been built for and raced in the French Bold'or of 1979.
At the compulsory pit stop halfway through the race, Quinlan pulled in to swap riders, most rides being shared, as has become tradition in these Avon 1 hour events. Zoltan Petri, normally on the Metro Fuel/Caltex CB1100, had to partner Quinlan after his original team mate, Tony Jacksic ( TJ Race Paint) took a fall in a BEARS event that morning. Petri jumped on the ex world endurance racer without even so much as a warmup lap that morning and gained the lead on return to the track. Battling a dodgy 4th gear and a faulty steering dapmner, he relinquished the lead early in his stint to a charging Simon Thomas, winner of the 1999 Eastern Creek 6 Hour, now partnering Woods on the GSX. Meanwhile, the Tim Ward/ Jonathan Agius TZ350 Yamaha was quickly catching the flailing Petri. The Ross Day/ Pat English GS1000 made a dash for a placing as well, only to overshoot turn 1 near the end of the race. Thomas flew to sure victory, being followed across the flag by Petri. In the smallest gap yet seen after an hour of racing in these series, the Ward/Agius TZ350 followed Petri to a 3rd placing by only 0.24 seconds across the line. 1st Post Classic home was the husband and wife team of Karen and Thomas Attard on their CB750, in fact beating a number of Forgotten Era bikes. 2nd Post Classic was the Phil Sherry / Peter Attartd CB500 followed by a single up ride by Adam McCormack on his Suzuki T500.
The next event for Post Classic, Forgotten Era and Bucket machines is at Wakefield Park on Sep 2. For more information about these great value for money bikes contact Zoltan on 02-96302839 or email pcransw@bigpond.com.au
