I am not usually in a position to be supporting MV at the expence of my club but I think some facts should be on the tabl. The HMRAV applied for a club permit so that one event licences could be applicable. We promoted the meeting as such. After months of discussion we were sure it was OK. About a week or so prior to the event / permit issue the right to a closed to club event was challenged by an old rider for reasons unknown. The MV EXecutive had another look and because two or three other clubs in the state are busting the rules about club events and paying spectators, our unique situation with the Historic Winton was considered to be not strictly within the rules. We had put a good case we thought , but just as with the insurance where other riders are making claims for racing accidents, the behaviour of other clubs in cheating CRUNCHED ONE EVENT LICENCES for Historic Winton. This is the fact so please dont go on about other aspects to the situation. The other fact is I am now of the opinion that the licence issue has not had a great effect on the final numbers. Yes some have dropped out but others have come on.
