The following article appeared in the latest Classic Racer Mag. :
The World Classic Series calendar is as follows:
> 30 March, Silverstone British Superbikes. 8 June A1 Ring Austria.
13
> July Donnington British GP. 3 August, Assen Rizzia Race Day. 17
> August Brno Czech GP or 31st August Most Czech Republic. 2 November
> Valencia Spanish GP.
> Due to lack of sponsorship the Australian rounds have been
cancelled
> until 2004.
> At the October FIM General Assembly InCA was granted world
> championship status. Nevertheless little will change operationally
> with sporting and technical regulations remaining the same.
> The series will remain under InCA control with their own directors
> and technical delegate.
> A special dispensation has been granted for a competition licence
> CHF200 for the year or CHF50 for a one event licence.
> Licences will be granted by the FIM and details on licence
> application will be forwarded to series entrants.

Perhaps Winton Motor Raceway Pty Ltd in Conjuction with PIARC and Bob
Blythe could sponsor a sub series of this championship?

John, perhaps the 500cc single cylinder four stroke class will be a goer now? Looks like the Craig Morris/Ray Berry manx is our only contender at present!

At the moment I am still in shock at the treatment the 500 single idea obtained. at the moment I feel the solo blokes have got to put some action into place before I carry the bag for them again. I am sticking to promoting sidecars until I see some smoke from the solo riders. I hope they pick up with the idea because I feel Historic racing will fade away unless we get some new machines within the rules, more action and paying spectators who help with the costs. But at the moment people tell me they just wanta race their bikes, somebody else will look after the future.

John, I'm sorry the 500cc four stroke single class has 'fallen in a hole' for the time being. I don't think we have to 'look after the future' on this one. A World Classic Championship will probably attract a whole new group of riders - most of them A Graders. These guys have a different mentality to your usual road racer. At present we only have about three or four 'names' in historic racing in Vic. - Johnny Maher, Greg Johnson, and Peter Guest. I think we'll see a whole lot more.
The Championship offers a chance for world-wide recognition, it's a big motivator for some of these guys.
