A comment Allan Greening made prompts me to explain my position on a couple of things. On October 4th and 5th at Winton, there is an Australian Historic Motor Festival being held at Winton. I believe HMRAV originally had the date for the Southern Classic. The festival was first held two years ago and Andrew Johnston and Barry Smith gave exhibition rides. This year no motorcyclists have been invited. Perhaps we should ask ourselves why? The grid at Winton holds forty max bikes, and the only time I have seen this many bikes on it, at a Historic meet has been when all capacity classes have been in the same race for a particular period. At Phillip Island a couple of weeks ago there was an unlimited Period 4 race with about four Triumphs and twelve Hondas, I believe the grid holds about 25 bikes. I suggest if it is as simple as running unlimited bikes from the three periods together, or changing the bucket rules to include 80cc watercooled two strokes, to get a full grid, we should think about it. I don't know where Historic Racing is going at Winton, but it doesn't look good for the bikes. So now you know where I'm coming from with all this 500cc Aircooled single class/ combined unlimited/ 750 pushrod class bullsh*t. I suggest we really need to look at our options, and find formats/formulas which appeal to both riders and spectators. Best Regards,
