The HMRAV has been promoting Dinosaur ride days at Broadford to help riders get more track time. Full licence, recreational licence or one event licences are ok. This years dates include Feb. 16, Sunday, Friday 25 April, Sunday August 10 and Sunday 30 Nov. But we have an idea to make the Friday one, on Anzac Day a family day with BBQ lunch and or dinner, chook raffles etc. Would it be of interest to you just to front for a while?

Our next ride day will be om Anzac Day. We are trying a family day with a BBQ at 5pm at $5.00 per family and plenty of opportunities to chat even if you do not want to ride anything. We are hoping we can get some road going sidecars on the track for a non competative run for those who just want to look. Activities start at 10pm for those with machines, we will have our usual motorcyclists quick BBQ lunch but the big one at 5pm. Entry free unless you are practising on the track. call 03 9888 5297 for details if you forget them.

just keeping you up to date. We have been getting calls about the Anzac ride day so we are confident the numbers will be up near 50. We will be having a short ceremony to remember it is Anzac day, Patrick Fletcher is assisting with this. Dont forget to bring an old bike and keep some time for the BBQ at the end of the day for the brag session.

We had 37 entrants at the ride day on Anzac Day, plus about 150 extra people. WE have caled it a sucess. The 750 BMW solo was in fine form, but the outfit numbers were low. The 5pm BBQ was a fizzer, everybody was worn out, but the lunch BBQ was popular. We plan to have something different at the August 10 Rideday, so if you have any ideas please let us know, thanks.

John, in relation to the pre 1980 ride days,I thought I might give you my two bob's worth. I've ridden at 3 out of the last 5 (silver Norton Atlas #42) and I've thoroughly enjoyed them. As I'm new to competion I've gained a lot of confidence in what is very much a low stress environment. I think it's a great way to sort your bike and there's plenty of track time available. There's always a good mix of bikes and whilst there are plenty of quick (from my point of view) punters on the track, there's also a few novices like me wobbling around.

You asked for some ideas for the upcoming ones, so here's a couple:

I've noticed a bit more publicity of late but I think that you could try and get some of the classic clubs involved a bit more. Even if they didn't take to the track the exposure and involvement might inspire a few to participate in the future.

I know "nice looking" bikes don't always go the fastest, but some thought could be given to presenting a small token to the Bike of the Day. This could be voted on by all who atend (slip of paper placed in a box) and the winner announced on the web site.

All the best, Brian.
