At the HMRAV committee meeting this week we discussed the issue of safety in the pits and any need for change. We have decided to make some dramatic changes and I am independantly seeking comments about our proposals. It involves a number of issues and I shall list them separately. They are designed to reduce the chance of collision, minimise blocking by unused trailers or vehicles, better co operation with layout of the pits and allow the easy flow of traffic.
It has been planned initially for Historic Winton which has its own special problems of overcrowding, people ambling around and a samll area.
1 We hope to create a defined entry path directly from the track exit to the pits with immovable barriers so no intrusion by trailers or vehicles will cause it to blocked off.
2 Vehicles over 6 metre in length will be directed to the Southern end of the pits to be located together so we do not have indents between vehicles creating blind spots.
3 Each entry shall only have one vehicle pass for either a trailer or a vehicle not both.
4 Excess vehicles will be asked to be moved and failure to move them will result in exclusion from racing until moved.
5 Please note we do not want to be pit gestapo but last year a number of us were abused for trying to get some organisation within the pit area and we are determined to address the issue properly this year. A letter explaining these conditions will go out with the entry forms.
Any comments about this are welcome.
