OK, I found this at: You must be logged in to see this link.
quote: THE Pine Rivers Shire Council will object to the Lakeside International Raceway complex at Kurwongbah being Heritage listed.
Council was advised in December last year that the Heritage Council resolved to provisionally enter Lakeside in the Heritage Register because it was "a place of cultural heritage significance and satisfies some of the criteria of the Act."
Shire Mayor, Yvonne Chapman, said the Council opposed the Heritage Listing on safety, environmental and community grounds.
She said the Council was concerned the listing could hinder the facility being used for community benefits like driver education, time trials, or a motoring museum

They go on about how some Cr Chapman said the complex also provided serious environmental concerns unless it was strictly controlled., yet they want to do, and I quote: "driver education, time trials, or a motoring museum". It just doesn't make sense to me..
I would say it made better sense if they just put: We want to make a shit load of money from stuffing everyone else up and selling off the race way so we can get kickbacks from the developers. At least it would be honest, sorry councils can not be honest can they?
Maybe it is time that others from around Australia not only near Lakeside, but the rest of Australia or even the rest of the world sent an email to councillors@prsc.qld.gov.au (Pine Rivers Shire Councilers) and see what they get back from them.

Just to add to the earlier message there is also another one that was posted the same day, called: You must be logged in to see this link.
This I find amazing as they say:quote: "We're now looking at attracting interested groups to take over the facility with an emphasis on low-impact community uses like driver training, a motoring museum, motor vehicle time trials or club usage," she said.

Yet they have banned Motorcycle racing! I thought that it was a club sport..
Come QLD's classic/historic officials, where are you. Why are you not supporting your members on this forum. Sorry, but I only have seen members and not officials doing something about it...

Hi David Last Saurday 22nd Feb 10.30am there was at Public meeting "Friends of Lakeside" just down the road at Red Dog Petroleum, it appeared in the local papers & the Major Brisbane Paper it was raining but we had a good turn out (500 people) where speakers both Bike & Car reps local residents/rate payers some fellow from the Heritage Commision T.V. station filming (Ch9) The Major which seems to give us the most problems was invited but was on sick leave, MAQ reps were invited no show But the Heritage fellow went on how it's not to far off getting it Heritage Listed his words (done deal) trust a Polly??? but things seems to be happening, Noise & Pollution into the nearby Lake ( Push bikes are there now ) but A few more interesting things came out of the meeting which we will keep you up dated as soon as this lakeside thing is sorted out. In Queensland we have 4 or 5 race tracks but only 2 have MA approval (Willowbank & Morgan Park short track 2.2??) Morgan Park has the long track 4.6 which is just been laid, towers brand new hot mix but MA has knocked it back as CAMS has also Seems a cutting with out run off etc etc. We race on the short track & just over the hill another 2 & abit klms is not been used, a real p"*s off. WE have a other freshly laid track Darlington Park 4 or 5 klms long up & down hills long straights, **** load of corners Millions spent, half way between Brisbane & Gold Coast real nice place & another track up around a mountain 7 to 10 klms long has just to put down, "MA Did Not Approve" the Darlington park complex at any stage it was real drama/still is But they are running track days Police training, black meetings, super cart hire etc etc. Willowbank is our only option which is **** butt boring, But things are in the pipe line for yet another track I'll will keep you informed as it comes about Steve (Brisbane)
